In parallel to the growth of the park, the sector undergoes a major change in its energy demand. In particular, household energy consumption has experienced a strong growth driven by an improvement in the standard of living of the population: the consumption passed from about 480 ktoe in 1990 to almost 1158 ktoe by 2015.

This increase in unit consumption was accompanied by a transformation of the structure of the consumption electricity with an emergence of some uses, in particular heating and cooling, whose share rose from 1% in 1989 to about 13% in 2014.
