Handover of the First Electric Vehicle to the Municipality of Nabeul

Mr. Fathi Hanchi, General Director of the National Agency for Energy Management (ANME), presided over the handover ceremony of the first electric vehicle intended for the municipality of Nabeul on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. This vehicle is the very first in a fleet dedicated to municipal transportation. This initiative is part of the “Alliance of Municipalities for the Energy Transition” program, financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and implemented under the supervision of ANME.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Hichem Bayoudh, General Secretary in charge of administrative affairs for the municipality of Nabeul; the National Coordinator of the “Alliance of Municipalities for the Energy Transition” program; a representative of the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia; and several officials from the agency and the municipality.

During the handover of the electric vehicle to the General Secretary responsible for municipal administrative affairs, Mr. Fathi Hanchi emphasized the importance of using electric vehicles. He highlighted that, as part of a national program funded by the Energy Transition Fund, 70 electric vehicles will be acquired in an initial phase for the benefit of public institutions, public establishments, and local authorities.

During this visit, the launch of an electric vehicle charging network in the municipal area of Nabeul was announced. This network, comprising six charging points, includes four points installed as part of the “Alliance of Municipalities for the Energy Transition” program.
