As part of the implementation of the national energy transition strategy, and more specifically the production of electricity from photovoltaic solar energy, the National Agency for Energy Management (ANME), in collaboration with the Tunisian-German GIZ program, organized a workshop on Thursday, February 6, 2025, in Tunis.

This workshop focused on the development of a support mechanism for participatory photovoltaic solar energy projects in Tunisia, within the frameworks of self-production and authorization regimes (Community PV and PV crowdfunding). The event provided an opportunity to explore the technical, financial, procedural, and regulatory aspects of these innovative energy production models.

This workshop brought together several key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy, along with various other ministries, representatives from the Presidency of the Government, the Industrial Land Agency, the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation, the Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas, as well as several financial institutions, including the Central Bank of Tunisia.

The scarcity of national natural resources along with the increase of energy demand leads Tunisia to initiate an energy transition process focusing on the increase of the share of renewable energies in the production of electricity in order to reach 12% by 2020 and 30% by 2030, in comparison to the current 3%. Indeed, the objective is to reach a renewable electric power of 3815 MW by 2030.
