Mr. Hassen El Agerbi, Director of International Cooperation at the National Agency for Energy Conservation, represented the Agency on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in the Tunisia–Italy Economic Forum held at the headquarters of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA), in the presence of numerous government officials, business leaders, and investors from Tunisia and Italy.
The event provided a valuable platform for dialogue and exchange of views on bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries and prospects for their development, particularly in high value-added sectors, including energy transition, renewable energy, decarbonization, digital transformation, infrastructure, and modern technologies.
In this context, Mr. Hassen El Agerbi participated in the workshop dedicated to energy transition and digitalization, as well as in discussions addressing prospects for strengthening Tunisian-Italian cooperation in the field of low-carbon energy transition. During the session, he presented projects implemented within the framework of Tunisian-Italian cooperation in this area and highlighted future cooperation opportunities and prospects between the two countries. The discussions also emphasized the importance of joint strategic projects that could support energy security, promote investment in renewable energy, improve energy efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions.
The African Green Industrialisation Hub project was also presented as a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening Tunisia’s position as a regional reference hub for green industrialization in North Africa and contributing to sustainable industrial development pathways while accelerating the transition towards a green economy across the African continent.
The participation of the National Agency for Energy Conservation in this forum reflects its ongoing commitment to monitoring international initiatives and programmes supporting energy transition, while strengthening cooperation and partnership relations with international stakeholders, particularly with the Italian side, in order to contribute to the implementation of major energy projects and the exchange of expertise and successful experiences in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy.
