On Friday, July 10, 2026, the National Agency for Energy Conservation organized the Kick-off Meeting for the study on the reactivation of the African Network of National Institutions Active in the Field of Energy Conservation (AFRENER), within the framework of the SHAMS project funded by the African Development Bank.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Agency for Energy Conservation, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the African Development Bank, and the consultancy firm responsible for carrying out the assignment.
The study aims to establish the institutional and legal framework required to reactivate the network by reviewing its statutes and governance arrangements, updating its membership list, and preparing an action plan and a communication strategy for the 2027–2030 period, in line with the African Energy Transition Strategy and the climate objectives of the African Union.
