The National Agency for Energy Conservation organized, on Friday, July 10, 2026, in Tunis, a workshop dedicated to presenting the results of the study on the technical and economic assessments for the implementation of district heating and cooling networks at the Bab Saâdoun Health Complex, as part of a project funded by the African Development Bank.
The programme covers 17 healthcare institutions under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, including eight major hospitals. It aims to develop centralized heating and cooling solutions to improve energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, while enhancing the quality of services provided by the targeted healthcare institutions.
The workshop brought together representatives of the beneficiary healthcare institutions, the African Development Bank, and the various stakeholders involved in the project. Participants reviewed the main findings of the study and discussed its technical and economic aspects, as well as the recommendations and next steps leading to the implementation phase of the project, with the objective of promoting innovative and sustainable solutions in the healthcare sector.
